As we wait for laws to change, more and more lives are being lost all over our country.

We welcome you to create a memorial here for any victims of gun violence but even more we encourage you to TAKE ACTION.

I propose to EMPOWER our young people to help STOP THE VIOLENCE!

The children in our lives can be the EYES AND EARS to notify us of trouble brewing. I truly believe that in each and every case of recent shootings, someone had seen or heard of trouble brewing BEFORE the act occurred.

Truly NO ONE could be offended by this effort! It does NOT infringe on anyone's rights.

We are simply trying to educate children about guns, why we need them, and how they should be properly handled! As well as when they should NOT be used!

This is HERO material! It could be a WINNING SOLUTION FOR STOPPING VIOLENCE!

Consider this: We have already had to educate our young children (even as young as preschool and K) about inappropriate touching, Stranger Danger.

We have had to teach our children to SAY NO TO DRUGS! Now it is time to not only TEACH them about GUNS but to give them instant solutions if they feel there is a threat.

First of all, we need to empower our children to have the courage to speak about it and then we need to provide a network of responsible adults, USING SAFE HOUSE signs identifying them as a SAFE HOUSE person (a neighbor, a teacher, police, etc.), that they can quickly relay the facts to, and then the adult will notify 911.

I grew up in the Chicago area in the 1950-1960s. I do not know if it was the Racial unrest or the Richard Speck incident but I can remember signs in the windows of houses that told us that we could run to that house and someone would help us. That was in the era of stay-at-home moms, but the concept can still work.

Often people hear of pending danger, HOURS, IF NOT DAYS ahead of the attack! Even in the Jan 6th events, many of the participants were I reported by their own children and families. It may have been after-the-fact but they turned them in nonetheless!

It is time that we ALL say NO TO VIOLENCE.

This campaign does not cost MILLIONS, it does not involve building an elaborate website (perhaps just THIS web page), and does NOT involve creating a call center (we already have our Police and 911).

It only needs ONE person to STAND UP and say WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!

Please tell the State of Illinois that "WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE." WE CAN EMPOWER OUR CHILDREN. Deputize our children to become our eyes and ears in IL.

Our entire Nation will follow suit and THANK YOU for taking the first step!
Please participate. Be a SAFE HOUSE. SPREAD THE WORD. Pass out signs and copies of the books in English and in Spanish.

The SAFE AT HOME sign can be downloaded from this website.

The books can be DOWNLOADED HERE IN ENGLISH AND IN SPANISH.
