Joe Logan Diffie
American Country Music Legend
Born December 28, 1958 in Tulsa, OK
Died March 29, 2020
Grammy Award winning singer and song-writer, Joe Diffie knew his spark from early on. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1958, his momma and daddy said that he could sing in harmony at age 3!
His first musical performance was at age 14, yet he never really quit his day job until much later. He worked in the oil fields, drove a cement truck and slaved in a foundry, all while working as a musician in his spare time.
In a style of non-traditional country music, Diffie’s song titles sound like chapters from anyone’s life:
A Thousand Winding Roads,
Regular Joe,
Life’s So Funny,
Ships That Don’t Come In,
Not Too Much To Ask,
Goodnight Sweetheart,
Tears in the Rain and
Memory Lane
Alanna Nash of Entertainment Weekly said Joe Diffie was “a first-rate interpreter of working class woes” who (sic) “not only understands the blue-collar ethic from the inside out - he’s also familiar with its humorous underbelly.”
The song titles on Joe Diffie - 16 Biggest Hits produced by Sony Music Entertainment will tell you a lot about his own self.

If you want to see Joe Diffie’s sparks really fly; relax, set awhile with a friend and your favorite brew. Then start by playing my favorite of his tunes, Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die) and then play all the rest.
Before you’re done, you’ve probably seen your life (or your Daddy’s or your Grand-Daddy’s life) flash before your eyes. Dry your tears, blow your nose and go make some music with your loved ones.
There are truly sparks in music!
